The party was amazing – there were 5 patients who were able to join the party in the playroom. There were an additional 15 children we were able to serve bedside with the Holiday Heroes experience. We had a parent of an infant come join us in the playroom and engage in the crafts from the craft kit boxes which was a great escape for this momma. We had 4 volunteers for this event which was our second party at this hospital with the first being a Thanksgiving party in 2018.
We met one friend – let’s call him Jonny who was about 4 year’s old who has been struggling with engaging and has not exhibited his typical joyous personality. The Child Life specialist shared how amazing it was to see him smiling, laughing, and engaging playfully in the activities at the Holiday Heroes party.
One of the volunteers was brand new! Thank you Karen Ryan-Kujawa for joining our team of super volunteers!
Thank you to Ray Wisbrock for coming as SpiderMan. This was Ray’s 16th party since May 2018! Thank you Morgan Spencer – long time supporter and friend of Holiday Heroes – for joining us at our King’s & Queen’s event!
We are excited to announce our hero volunteer Charlene Bryeans has excepted the volunteer role of ‘Lead Hero’ for AMITA. This was her first party in this role and means she is running point on all Holiday Heroes parties at this particular hospital for 2019. THANK YOU CHARLENE!!
For those of you don’t know, we have two full-time staff and 16 hospital partners. By having ‘Lead Heroes’ we are able to throw more parties on one day. There is something extra special about throwing a Holiday party on the actual Holiday! <3
We currently have filled the volunteer ‘Lead Hero’ roles for Central Dupage Hospital and Amita Brothers, but we are still seeking ‘Lead Hero’ volunteers for the rest of our hospitals:
