We need heroes, now.

We are stepping up our efforts during this challenging time.
And we need your support more than ever before.

To the friends and generous supporters of The Holiday Heroes Foundation:

This is a unique and stressful time for our communities and we want to take a few minutes to let you know that here at the Holiday Heroes, our commitment to providing happy distractions to children, families, and caretakers in hospitals has never been greater.

Our hearts go out to those affected by this unprecedented event and we appreciate the healthcare workers, local community members, and government staff who are on the front lines working to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. For years, the Holiday Heroes Foundation has been working directly with hospitals and care facilities in order to provide safe interactions during all of our events. We implore all of you to follow the guidelines laid out by global health experts at the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to prevent the spread of this virus.

Holiday Heroes is working very closely with the Child Life Specialists at our many hospital partners to adapt our programs in order to deliver on our mission to serve children in long-term hospital care.

What we are doing:

• We’ve safely delivered more than 285 themed activity boxes to hospitals since the outbreak.

• Partnering with Child Life Specialists and other pediatric staff to provide the in-person portion of the experience. This removes the need for volunteers and medically non-essential staff to be in hospitals at this time.

• Developing a “Virtual Hero Visit” program to ensure children in long-term care are provided with critical moments of joy as they fight for recovery.

Will you be a hero to these children in need?

If you’re feeling isolated and concerned right now, take a moment to consider what our children in long-term care – and their families – must be feeling. These children are feeling more isolated and alone than ever since extended family members and friends are likely unable to visit. In some cases, their immediate family is also unable to visit them.

Your gift makes an immediate impact by bringing a smile to a sick child’s face.

The team at Holiday Heroes – and the children & families we support…
thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
